Retinol Peel

What Is Retinol?

Retinol is a derivative of Vitamin A. Due to its small molecular size it is able to target the deeper layers of the skin, therefore improving the overall skin appearance. This is caused by its intense resurfacing properties that cause shedding of the outer layers of the skin to reveal fresh, clear and brighter skin beneath. This ingredient works to increase the skin cell turnover and stimulate collagen production to improve texture, dull/flaky skin, soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while also reducing free radical damage and controlling excess oil production.

Pre + Post Treatment Care

During Treatment: The retinol peel is applied to clean skin, with a possible second layer for targeted areas. The peel is left to develop over 8 hours, during which there’s no sensation.

Post-Treatment: Initial mild sensitivity, heat, and redness may occur within 1-2 days, leading to tightness. Between 3-7 days, expect dryness and moderate peeling. After a week, the skin typically looks smoother, more hydrated, and even-toned.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure and use of retinoids or other exfoliating agents for a week before the treatment.
  • Ensure the skin is clean and free of makeup and moisturizers on the day of the peel.
  • Avoid washing the face or applying makeup for at least 8 hours post-application.
  • Expect to start peeling around 3-7 days after the treatment; do not pick at peeling skin.
  • Use a gentle cleanser and hydrate the skin well, applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure and strenuous exercise for a few days post-peel to prevent irritation.
