Laser tattoo removal is an effective way to remove unwanted body ink. Using innovative technology, our Q-switched Nd:YAG tattoo removal device is able to penetrate into the deeper layers of skin, breaking down ink particles for effective removal.
Laser tattoo removal is the most successful and cost effective non-surgical method of removing tattoo ink. At Mirra Skin & Aesthetic Clinic, we use the highest quality professional tattoo removal device to eliminate your unwanted tattoo. Any shape or size tattoo can be treated, with the ability to eliminate black, dark blue, green and red tattoo inks!
Tattoo ink cannot be removed through epidermal cell turnover and ink particles are also too large to be absorbed by the body, therefore tattoos are able to remain permanent in the deeper layers of skin. The laser light is aimed at the tattoo being treated and applied to the area in pulses. The tattoo absorbs the light which then shatters the ink particles into smaller fragments. Following this, The body will remove these particles through the lymphatic system. This leads to permanently less visible tattoos or complete removal. The device is designed to only attract ink particles, therefore preserving surrounding healthy tissue.
The area is first cleaned before the device is applied over the tattoo. The sensation felt during tattoo removal can vary person to person, however it can be associated to a warm snap on the skin's surface. The size, colour, age and location of the tattoo will depend on level of discomfort during the procedure.
Immediately following laser tattoo removal there is a slight whitening or "frosting" that occurs which will subside once the treatment is complete. Some mild swelling and redness is also to be expected. Some small blistering can also occur which is normal due to the build up of heat trapped under the skin. Antiseptic ointment and a dressing is applied to the tattoo which is to be reapplied and re-dressed for the next 3 days. It is important to keep the area covered and clean for at least 3 days post treatment. 6-12 sessions every 6 weeks are required, depending on size, location, colour and age of the tattoo.
